VIDEO: Would You Eat Venison Pie With Lead Shot? /

It's rare that, while traveling, Bryan and I eat in the same place twice. But last night we made an exception: a repeat visit to Sweeney & Todd's pie house in Reading, England. ("Pies" in this country typically refer to a main course of pastry stuffed with meat, cheese, spices and the occasional rogue vegetable.) For one, the food is divine and unique to the British experience. For two, you are joined early on by the Sweeney & Todd's pie lady, she who runs the shop and reels off the available, often quirky menu items each night to each and every table in the labyrinthine collection of dining rooms. According to our sources, the pie lady has been in action since the dawn of time -- and she's terribly charming. See for yourself:

In addition to consistent feasting on (usually) fabulous food, we've thoroughly enjoyed our last few days of vagabond life. Andy and Clare have been wonderful hosts, taking us out on the town with their friends, organizing a fabulous trip to Scotland, and generally making us feel right at home. Today Bryan and I are heading into London while they're at work. We'll be meeting up with Paula for some pre-Halloween shopping and a trip on the London Eye, the one evening event I missed visiting the city last, with Yahoo! in 2004. Tomorrow is Clare's birthday, and also our penultimate night abroad.

!!!!

So would you eat venison pie with lead shot, anyway?
