And Now, For Our Next Adventure /

It's almost impossible to believe that, as I sit here and type this, our trip of a lifetime is less than 24 hours from its end. It's 3:00 p.m. in Dublin, and Bryan and I are making our final packing tweaks in preparation for an 8:50 a.m. flight to JFK tomorrow morning. We'll land in New York after a brief stop in Shannon, Ireland, and then we'll head directly to Jen's place for couch time, catching up, and Chinese food. We'll sleep late, surely, on Halloween day, and we'll spend our first night out in America dressed up as people not ourselves, watching a Meat Loaf cover band in one of our favorite NYC haunts that happens to be owned by a celebrity. My brother will meet us there and maybe, if we're lucky, so will Jayney. On Thursday we'll see the all-new Heather Moylan before picking up our car to start the Long Island-New Jersey-Connecticut-Massachusetts family loop.

I know it's predictable and cliche to say we have "mixed feelings" about our return to the U.S. -- but I'm at a loss for a better way to put it. We're at once sad, excited, nervous, relieved, emotional, and proud. We're very much looking forward to seeing everyone (a certain feline included) and we can't wait to start the next chapter of our lives, the one that has us finding new jobs and figuring out where to live, with the goal of at last buying our very own abode. No, we don't know exactly where that will be yet, but you can bet that it'll be decorated with an international flair.

There's still a lot to say about our experiences over the past nine months and I'm planning to keep this blog fresh, at least for the time being. Bryan and I have been working on a "best of" list from the whole trip, and I still have unused blog posts and photos and videos that need to find a home on the world wide web. So stay tuned and, if you're Howard Stern, let me know when I start.

Our next adventure may not be as exotic or bohemian or carefree, but still, we can't wait.
