We spent Day Six in our nation's capital, visiting with Drake and indulging in a bit of DC sightseeing. (Here, Drake and Bryan interact with the world's pointiest building edge.) It was the perfect penultimate stop, capped off with a full viewing of the Dancing With the Stars premiere and the best Chinese food I've had in years. On Monday morning, we made sure to be up early enough to get in the car just in time to hear Howard's very first satellite broadcast from the very beginning. The next six hours absolutely flew by -- and before we knew it, we'd arrived at our final destination (at least for the cross-country leg of our journey.)
I would give Howard's first show on Sirius a solid A. My favorite things were the comfortable familiarity, the genuine excitement in Howard's voice, the much-hyped cast revelations (still anonymous) and of course, George Takei. (What a stroke of genius! I could listen to George Takei's laugh for hours upon hours. And so open! So free with the Boy Scouts stories!) I wasn't thrilled about some of the obscenities, admittedly, or the Heidi Cortez bit... But I can put aside my prudeishness for a moment to simply bask in Howard's brilliant return.
Bryan and I literally did not miss a single second of the show, even when stopping at Wendy's to pee, thanks to our radio model's pinch of recording capability. I agree: It was definitely worth the money, and the wait.
Now we're at my mom's for a while, getting Savannah settled in. You can see that she's already jumped to the highest point possible in the house and familiarized her teeth with my mom's favorite plant. We'll be here for a few more days, then off to visit with friends and family in NY, MA, NJ and RI before we're away for a year.

George Takei was truly a stroke of genius. I could listen to that guy talk for hours and hours. He was so open about is sexuality too ... very surprising!
I just thought of something...What does this trip mean for DPDL this year? Wait a second now.......
