**NOTE** Day Three will also be the first installment in the "Deleted Scenes" portion of the DVD to be released in stores in February, 2007; just in time for Valentine's Day.Actually, it is really Day 4, but since our hotel last night did not have The Internet, we are reduced to posting both Days 3 and 4 tonight.
We left Santa Rosa, New Mexico yesterday morning one minute ahead of schedule and proceeded to drive 638.7 miles. The breakfast was horrible (too much Criso Oil in the eggs and hash browns), but we bravely pressed on. Along the way, we revisited the Cadillac Ranch; it was this very spot, six years ago, that Allyson took one of our favorite pictures (it looks pretty much the same as that one.) The GPS that John gave me as a gift has proved invaluable in not only marking this "historic" spot, but carrying us from location to location, recording the mileage as we go.
Heading East from Amarillo, we listened to the LIVE Howard Stern Studio rehearsals on Sirius Radio, passed through the hometown of Carrie Underwood (American Idol 2005 winner!), and finally called Van Buren, Arkansas our final stop.
We were both excited about passing the 630-mile mark for the second time, but we were extremely saddened to find out (after checking into the Motel 6 ... never again!) that Van Buren was a dry town. No beer! Please, pinch me; I must be dreaming. With no beer, no Internet access (only this new fancy access called "56K-dialup"), Allyson and I were reduced to watching Dancing With The Stars, and I have to say, I was thrilled to watch Stacy Kiebler (of WWE Wrestling fame) show off her moves. Is it me or does she have the longest legs you have ever seen?
Day Four started much later than usual, but we proceeded another 508.3 miles to Nashville. In a nutshell, the day was fairly uneventful, and due to last night's less-than-adequate accommodations, we decided to pamper ourselves at the Sheraton Hotel. Our stay has included Wine & Cheese upon our arrival, followed by a two-beer, two-wine dinner down in the bar listening to the Flutist and his Lady Friend. It was a scene straight out of Saturday Night Live.
Savannah freaked herself out in the mirror, but then calmed down and settled in Allyson's lap. They are both over in the comfy bed right now, and I am about to join them.
Another "Allyson Observation" to follow tomorrow, or Sunday. ..........
